For the benefit of the registrants, the local government has provided the facility of online registration on the website instead of registering and renewing in the employment office in person at the employment offices in the districts.

USER ID :

New registrants have to create their own User Id while using the User Id on the website. For those registering in person at the Employment Office, their Employment Registration Number is User Id. Before multiplying your registration number, please read the guidelines on the website carefully to change it to 15 digit number.

Password:

New registrants should create their own password and remember it. Those who come to the employment office and register in person, their date of birth should be used as PASSWORD in the form of DD/MM/YY.

Applications of the Website :

New registration, renewal, additional educational qualification registration, change of address within the district, verification of records etc. can be done through the website. Registered candidates can take PRINT OUT of Employment ID Card candidates should review their registration once in three years. Also, the advertisement vacancy details are published weekly on this website. Various details like competitive exam details, books for competitive exam and training courses can also be known through this website.

Virtual Learning Portal

The Virtual Learning Portal is a Web based initiative run by Department of Employment and Training, Government of Tamil Nadu to assist young aspirants who are preparing for Government competitive exams. It is a well known fact that free coaching classes for various competitive examinations are conducted in all the District Employment and Career Guidance Centres. This portal was envisaged as yet another enterprise of Career Guidance and coaching which is one of the primary function of this department. This platform contains e-content for various competitive exams such as TNPSC (Group I, Group II, Group IV & Group VIIB / VIII), TNUSRB, UPSC, SSC, IBPS, RRB. Objective of the project is to build a centralized, web-based virtual learning system and to enable the students to access the learning environment from any location, any time through a multitude of electronic formats.

Special Features :

  • All the e-content of this portal has been uploaded bilingually ie.in both Tamil and English so as to suit the needs of even remote rural competitive aspirants. Also, these e-content documents are downloadable which make these study materials accessible in offline mode too.
  • This site also has provision to train the students through Model tests and Assessment tests. Video content of the coaching classes are uploaded in the portal for the benefit of the youngsters of remote areas who can’t access the free coaching classes conducted at District Employment and Career Guidance centres on a daily basis.
  • Furthermore the visitors of this portal are informed duly about Career information – Government Sector, recent advertised vacancies, Exam notification, etc.
  • A Mobile app has been provided in the website for the users who opt to study using their mobile phones. So our mission is to strive, in every way, towards aiding the aspirants of the state in realising their dream of playing a part in Government bureaucracy.

Study Circle

  • Study Circles functioning at all the District Employment and Career Guidance Centres were established in the year 1999 with a view to assist aspirants of various competitive examinations by rendering them free coaching and guidance. The vision of these voluntary units is to act as a niche and a learning platform for all the youngsters who are pursuing a career in Government sector. Free Coaching Classes are conducted for various examinations like TNPSC (Group I, Group II, Group IV, Group VIIB / VIII), TNUSRB (PC & SI), TET, SSC, IBPS (Clerk and PO) and RRB by inviting expert faculties.
  • Through the Coaching given by Study Circles, more than 500 students have emerged successful in various competitive exams. Coaching Classes are also being conducted in additional places like Universities and Colleges etc, as per requirements.
  • Special initiatives are also taken to provide free coaching to the Differently-Abled aspirants by engaging Sign interpreter for the assistance of hearing impaired aspirants and Braille assistance to the Visually Challenged aspirants.

  • Over and above coaching Classes are also conducted in ten Universities and affiliated Arts and Science Colleges for the interest of economically weaker section students studying in the Final Year to enable them to take up these competitive examinations.

Career Guidance Activities

Literates to Graduates

  • Career guidance is one of the pivotal functions of the department of employment and Training. In order to perform this function effectively, District Employment and Career Guidance Centers are conducting various career guidance programmes so as to guide the School/College Students, Registrants and job seekers to choose the right career path. Following are the career guidance activities undertaken by the District Employment and Career Guidance Centres in all the districts.
  • Career Exhibitions and Seminars are conducted in schools and colleges to create awareness among the students about diverse professional fields.
  • In these exhibitions, Career talks are delivered by the experts belonging to various disciplines. The students are also introduced to multiple career possibilities via pamphlets, banners and the display of Competitive exam books.

  • Confidence building programmes for school/college students, registrants and job seekers in order to make them fit enough to meet the employment market demands.
  • Career Awareness and Skill Awareness in the Office premises
  • Guidance on Registration in Virtual Learning Portal launched for providing e-materials for various competitive examinations for the aspirants.
  • Guidance through State Career Guidance Centre on various aspects such as Higher Studies / Job opportunities / Skill / Self Employment etc.,
  • Registration Guidance for Overseas Manpower Corporation and Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.

Special Programs :

Following special guidance programmes are conducted by District Employment and Career Guidance Centres to give marked attention to some special groups of the the society and to some overlooked occupational sectors in career opting.

  1. Special Awareness Programme for Airmen Selection

    Conducting exclusive career guidance programmes & rallies for creating awareness regarding the recruitment in the Indian Air force. In all these Programmes, Senior Officers from Indian Air Force take part and talk to the participants on the various avenues in Air Force, Training given by them and subsequent placement opportunities.

  2. Special Coaching classes for Differently Abled aspirants at the Study Circles

    Special initiatives are also taken to provide free coaching to the Differently-Abled aspirants by engaging Sign interpreter for the assistance of hearing impaired aspirants and Braille assistance to the Visually Challenged aspirants.

    The Study Circles in various District Employment and Career Guidance Centres also take special steps to conduct free Coaching Classes for the Differently-Abled registrants aspiring to enter into Public Service Establishments. Due to the relentless efforts of the Employment Offices, nearly 50 Differently abled aspirants have successfully got placed in government sector.

  3. Special Coaching classes for Differently Abled aspirants at the Study Circles

    Special programmes are regularly arranged by district employment and career guidance centres for the benefit of Transgender candidates. Talks about career opportunities and various welfare schemes are given to them by appropriate experts.

  4. Career Awareness Week and Skill Week

    Every year July 2nd week and July 15th are celebrated as career guidance & skill awareness week and skill day respectively. Various activities such as Career counselling and talks, Career exhibitions, Career awareness and skill training through mobile vans, Skill Rallis, Skill Camps, Special Programmes for Differently – Abled, ITI students, School students, Women and Transgender, distribution of booklets and pamphlets on careers and skill training, Seminars on career awareness and skill awareness etc., are carried out all through the skill week. Skill competitions for students are also conducted in these programmes.

Under the Unique initiative, ‘An Activity- A day’, every day of the week is ear-marked for a specific activity to ensure a focused outcome based approach for the activities of the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre.

TAMILNADU SKILL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) was formed with an objective to provide demand-based and industry-relevant skills to the youth to enhance their employability and transform the State into the skill hub of India.

TNSDC is the Nodal Agency for the skill development related activities in the State and it aims to converge the activities of various stakeholders including industries, industrial associations, training partners, sector skill councils, assessment agencies apart from various other State and Central Government bodies. TNSDC strives to ensure placement oriented quality skill training by empanelling private and Government training partners.

Implementation Of National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF)

In order to have uniform curriculum standards throughout the State and the country, TNSDC strictly adheres to the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) approved job roles and other standard parameters like course duration, quality standards, assessment methodology and payment milestones based on common norms approved by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India. The Qualification Packs(QP) notified by National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) are followed for imparting training programs with a focus on ensuring a minimum 70 percent placement for all successfully trained and certified candidates.

Independent Assessment And Certification Of Training Programmes

In order to ensure the quality of training programmes, third-party independent assessment, as well as certification, is being done by State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) and the concerned Sector Skill Council (SSC). This paves way for a fair and unbiased assessment and certification process.

TN Skill Registry

On completion of training, successful candidates are part of the TN Skill Registry which will be the state repository of skilled candidates and accessible to the private employers who have registered in the TN Private Job Portal. EMI

  • Employment Market Information provides information regarding the structure of employment, occupational composition of the establishment, educational qualification of the employees and thereby provide information about the balance between supply and demand of Manpower.
  • The Employment Market Information unit is functioning in all districts. The foremost function of the EMI units are identification of establishment and collect and compile information on employment and thereby help to assess supply, demand and plan for manpower requirements.
  • Employment data in relation to public sector establishments and non-agricultural establishments in private sector employing 25 or more persons are collected under the provisions of Employment Exchanges Compulsory Notification Act 1959 and the rules under 1960. This is collected and complied for every quarter. Based on these reports, knowledge of vacancies, the needed qualifications for that vacancies are assessed and planned. In addition to this Area Market Report for a particular area is prepared.
  • The major use of the Employment Market Information are to assess the absorption of applicants waiting in the live register, fulfil the demand of manpower, assessment of manpower requirements of professional, technical, scientific and skilled workers, and the employment opportunities likely to be generated as well as the progress made in creating employment opportunities thereby play a vital role in the development of economy of that area.

Unemployment Assistance Scheme

  • The Unemployment Assistance was launched with a view to help the youth who have registered with the District Employment and Career Guidance Centre and waiting in the live register for five years or more to secure an employment.
  • The Government provides Unemployment Assistance for three years subject to eligibility conditions like age limit and income. The annual income criteria for eligibility is Rs.72,000/- per annum and maximum age limit is 40 years. Age limit is 45 years for the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. Unemployment assistance of Rs.200/- per month is given to SSLC failed, Rs.300/ for SSLC passed, Rs.400/- for HSC and Rs.600/- for Graduates. This amount is being credited to the beneficiaries account through ECS in every quarter.

Unemployment Assistance to Differently-Abled job seekers

Unemployment Assistance is also provided to Differently-Abled job seekers. The criteria with regard to the Differently-Abled person to get this assistance is that they should have been on the live register for one year. However, there is no restriction on parental income and age. The assistance is given to them for a period of ten years. The unemployment assistance of Rs.600/- per month is given to illiterate – SSLC passed, Rs.750/- for HSC and Rs.1,000/- for Graduates.

All District Employment and Career Guidance Centers are currently conducting large-scale private sector employment camps, once in six months and small-scale private sector employment camps on the second and fourth Fridays of every month.

Various private  companies from various sectors are participating in the camps and providing employment to the job seekers.
