Agricultural Engineering Department plays a significant role in propagating agricultural mechanization among farmers to carry out various farming operations, starting from land bed preparation, sowing, crop protection, harvesting, post harvest technology management and value addition in time.

  1. Sub Mission on Agricultural Mechanization

    OBJECTIVES
    • Increasing the reach of farm mechanization to small and marginal farmers to improve the farm power.

    • Union Government 60%
    • State Government 40%
    DETAILS OF WORKS
    • Providing subsidy assistance to Farmers for the purchase of Agricultural Machinery/ Implements such as Tractor, Rotavator, Power Tiller (8 BHP and above), Paddy Transplanter, Power Weeder, Chaff Cutter, Brush Cutter, Combine Harvester, Multi Crop Thresher, etc.
    • ELIGIBILITY
      For individual based machinery – All farmers.
  2. Maintenance of Water Harvesting Structures

    OBJECTIVES

    • In order to increase the inflow to the water harvesting structures created by TAWDEVA in DPAP/IWDP/IWMP watersheds across Tamil Nadu, and to take up the maintenance works like removing plants, shrubs etc., and desilting in order to increase the capacity of the water harvesting structures.

    FUNDING PATTERN

    • Watershed Development Fund (WDF) of Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency (TAWDEVA).

    DETAILS OF WORKS

    • Maintenance of water harvesting structures created by Tamil Nadu Watershed Development Agency (TAWDEVA) using Agricultural Engineering Department owned machinery.
  3. Chief Minister’s Scheme of Solar Powered Pumpsets

    OBJECTIVES

    • To ensure electricity requirement of the farmers for pumping water for irrigation.

    FUNDING PATTERN

    • Union Government- MNRE Fund – 30%
    • State fund – 40%

    BENEFITS OFFERED (SUBSIDY)

    • Subsidy – 70% (State – 40% and Union Government, MNRE – 30%)
    • Farmer’s contribution – 30%.

    PROJECT AREA

    • All districts (Except Chennai)

    DETAILS OF WORKS

    • Provision of Off-grid Standalone Solar Powered Pumping System with subsidy assistance to the farmers for irrigation purpose.

    Installation of Solar Drying Units

    OBJECTIVES

    • To dry the agricultural produce in hygienic manner, to value add the produce and thereby ensuring more profit to the farmers.

    FUNDING PATTERN

    • Union Government – 60%,
    • State Government – 40%

    BENEFITS OFFERED (SUBSIDY)

    • 40 % of the total cost of the Solar drying unit will be directly paid to the farmer’s account as back ended subsidy.

    DETAILS OF WORKS

    • Provision of Polycarbonate sheet covered green house type Solar drying units of floor area ranging from 400 Sq.ft to 1,000 Sq.ft to the farmers/ farmers groups for drying various agricultural produces viz., Oil seeds like Copra, Gingelly, Groundnut etc., Fruits like Banana, Amla etc., Spices like Clove, Ginger etc., Chillies, Moringa leaves, Curry leaves, Herbal leaves etc.,

  4. Electric motor pumpsets with subsidy

    OBJECTIVES

    • To increase power utilization efficiency.
    • To pump more irrigation water at low cost.

    FUNDING PATTERN

    • 100 % State Fund Scheme

    BENEFITS OFFERED (SUBSIDY)

    • Subsidy – Rs.10,000/- or 50 % of the cost of electric motor pumpsets whichever is less for purchasing new electric motor pumpsets.

    DETAILS OF WORKS

    • Subsidy assistance for purchase of new electric motor pumpsets for replacing the old ones or for the purchase of new electric motor pumpsets for the wells newly created.

    ELIGIBILITY

    • All the marginal farmers who are having their own EB connection for the irrigation well.
    • All the small farmers who own upto 3 acres of land having their own EB connection for the irrigation well.
  5. Distribution of Value Addition Machinery

    OBJECTIVES

    • To reduce the quantitative losses of farm produce after harvesting to storage period upto marketing level and to increase the shelf life of the produce.

    FUNDING PATTERN

    • Union Government – 60%
    • State Government – 40%

    BENEFITS OFFERED (SUBSIDY)

    • 40% subsidy or the eligible subsidy prescribed by the Government whichever is less is provided as subsidy.

    DETAILS OF WORKS

    • Purchase of Value Addition Machinery for agricultural produce such as Mini Dhall Mill, Millet Mill, Oil expeller, Packing machine, Groundnut dehusker, Sheller, Thresher, Washing machines, Grinder, Polisher, Cleaner cum grader etc., subsidy assistance will be provided.

    • Self Help Group (SHG), User Groups
    • Entrepreneur.
  6. Kalaignarin All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Programme (KAVIADP)

    OBJECTIVES

    • To bring fallow lands under cultivation and increase the cultivable area by creation of new water sources.
    • To increase the agricultural production and productivity.
    • To increase the economic status of farmers.

    FUNDING PATTERN

    • Community water source creation – State Plan Scheme(100%)
    • Other dovetailed components from various Union Government shared schemes like, SMAM, NADP, PM-KUSUM, PMKSY- PDMC – SWMA following the respective scheme operational guidelines and funding pattern.

    BENEFITS OFFERED (SUBSIDY)

    • 100% subsidy for all the components.
    • Subsidy pattern as per operational guidelines of respective detailed Union Government schemes.

    PROJECT AREA

    • 38 villages identified by RD and PR department under the scheme of Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam

    WORK COMPONENTS IMPLEMENTED

    1. Creation of water source (Borewell/Tubewell) for identified cluster in non irrigated areas on community basis.
    2. Creation of water source (Borewell/Tubewell) for individual SC/ST farmers.
    3. Construction of Farm Ponds.
    4. Desilting and Improvement works of Panjayat union MI tanks, Ooranies, Ponds and Supply channels.

    ELIGIBILITY

    • All farmers of the project area of the selected 38 villages (S.No 1,3, and 4).
    • SC/ST, Small and Marginal farmers of the project area of the selected 38 villages (S.No 2)

    Land Development

    1. e – Vaadagai (Uzahavan App)

      The farmers can book the Agricultural Engineering Department owned agricultural machinery and implements from their house or farm itself through e-Vaadagai App without visiting AED offices.
      Hire Charges

      1. Bulldozer– Rs.970/hr
      2. Tractor– Rs.400/hour with attachments.
      3. Paddy Combine Harvester (Track type) – Rs.1630/hr
      4. Backhoe with front end loader – Rs.760/hr
      5. Mini tractor rental fee – Rs.400/hour
    2. Minor Irrigation

      The farmers can book the Agricultural Engineering Department owned agricultural Machinery and Implement their house or farm itself through e- Vaadagai mobile app without visiting AED offices.
